Crochet Terms and Abbreviations
Don’t be intimidated by crochet terms and abbreviations! Take a moment to understand what a crochet pattern is trying to say. READ IT OUT LOUD!!! This method always seems to help. I’ve listed below crochet terms and abbreviations that you will ever run into, but your crochet pattens will only call for some simple basic crochet stitches. They are: chain stitch (ch ), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc) and double crochet (dc). As you master these stitches, crochet terms and abbreviations, you will feel confident and can easily follow instruction for the more complex crochet stitches and crochet terms and abbreviations. Before you go on to read the list below, let me assure you that there are only 5-6 basic stitches that you use in most of your crocheting. Bo = Bobble
BP back post
BPDC= back post double crochet

CA = color a
C1= color 1
CC= contrasting color
Ch= Chain stitch
Ch- = refering to chain or space previously made
ch-sp = chain space
CL = cluster
cont =continue
DC= Double Crochet
DCTG= double

dec= decrease
DTR= double treble
Fl=front loop
Foll= Follow
Fp = front post
FPDC= front post
